Wine:  Acustic Cellars Acústic Vinyes Velles Nobles Carinyena I Garnatxa Negra 2022

Grape:  This wine is a blend ofCarinyena (70%) and Garnatxa Negra (30%) grapes.  The Carinyena grape (aka: Mazuelo and Carignan) adds bright acidity, firm structure, deep color, and long-term aging potential to a red blend.  The Garnatxa Negra (aka Garnacha and Grenache) adds vibrant red fruit flavors, body, and warmth to a red blend. Carinyena And Garnatxa Negra have common origins from Aragon in Northeast Spain.  However, recently a challenge for the origin of the Garnatxa Negra has come from Italian researchers indicating the island of Sardegna as the original home.  Both are dark-skinned grapes.

Color: Deep red

Aromas:  blackberry, raspberry, oak with hints of forest vegetation

Flavors:  sweet black fruit – plum, blackberry, blueberry

Body:  Medium +

Alcohol:  15%

Acid:  Medium +

Sweetness: Dry

Tannins:  Medium

Balance:  due to the characteristics of the grapes, the acid and tannins complement each other and the wine is well-balanced

Serving Tips:  55°F to 65°F, red wine glass, decant for 30 minutes

Food Pairings:  steak, lamb, sausages, grilled pork, roasted vegetables

Aging:  up to 10 years

Winery Notes:   The winery is in the D.O. Montsant wine region of northeast Spain.  The wine is made from old vineyards of Garnatxa and Carinyena in the villages of Marçà, Capçanes, El Masroig, Els Guiamets, La Serra d’Almos, Darmòs, Siurana. The philosophy of this wine is based on the wisdom of the ancient vineyards of Garnatxa and Carinyena and the old tradition of winemaking from the ancient vine growers.
