Wine:  Gran Alanis Castes Blancas 2023

Grape:  This wine is a blend of Godello, Treixadura, Loureira and Albariño grapes. All of these grapes are light skinned grapes.  Godello (originates in Río Sil in Galicia, northwest Spain) adds vibrant crisp acidity, a rich and creamy texture, and distinct wet-stone minerality. Treixadura (originates from Minho wine region of northwest Portugal) adds body, a rounded texture, and delicate orchard fruit aromas.  Loureira (originates from Minho wine region of northwest Portugal) adds vibrant acidity, intense floral perfumes, and unique herbal notes.  Albariño (originates from northwest Portugal or northwest Spain) adds vibrant acidity, saline minerality, and aromatic citrus fruit.

Color: Golden yellow with hints of green

Aromas:  citrus fruits, green apple, and ripe pear, white floral notes, fresh herbs, touch of almond and a distinctive saline minerality

Flavors:  citrus zest, orchard fruit flavors, creaminess, wet stone

Body:  Medium

Alcohol:  12.5%

Acid:  Medium +

Sweetness: Dry

Balance: somewhat complex white blend with crisp acidity and lots of citrus flavor followed by minerality

Serving Tips:  48°F to 54°F, white wine glass, no need to decant

Winery Notes:   The winery is the Ribiero wine region (oldest wine region of Galicia) in northwest Spain bordering Portugal.  Grapes have been cultivated and wine produced here since Roman times, perfected by monks, and served on the tables of kings and queens. At its height, it was exported to all of Europe.  As evidenced by the texts of the Archive of Simancas of the year 1500, that the first wine that Christopher Columbus brought to America was a Ribeiro.  Founded in 1910, Bodega Alanís has been creating unique and extraordinary wines from the Ribeiro Denomination of Origin for over 100 years. The secret of its long years of good work is a careful selection of the grapes, promoting native varieties, such as Treixadura and Torrontés, and a refined production process fusing tradition and technology.
