Grape:100% Nebbiolo – dark skinned grape native to the Piemonte area of Italy. It is Italy’s most revered wine grape, producing some of the finest and long-lived wines in the world. Documentation for this grape goes back as far as the late 1200’s in Italy.
Aromas: Blackberry, cherry, plum, leather, truffle, smoke earth
Flavors: Cloves, pink peppercorns, green olives, dark currant, dried figs, chocolate, truffle and tar notes
Body: Medium + +
Acid: High

Balance: nicely balanced
Serving Tips: 64° to 68º F, red wine glass, decant for up to 2 hours
Food Pairings: beef, game and stews such as beefsteak, lamb, veal, rabbit, wild boar and deer, pizza and mild cheeses
Winery Notes: The vineyards of Abbona extend for 128 acres over the best-positioned territories in Dogliani, Monforte d’Alba and Novello. The Barolo vineyards are in the area of Novello about 37 miles southeast of Turin in northwest Italy. The winemakers are Marziano Abbona & Giuseppe Caviol. Following methods passed down through generations, the vineyards are cultivated and harvested by hand.
