Wine: Guardoilvento Etna Rosso
Grape: The grapes used to produce this wine are Nerello Mascalese. These grapes are native to the Etna region of Sicily. The grapes grow on lava soils created by the eruptions of Mt. Etna. In wine, volcanic soil provides razor-sharp acidity; a tingling, lively texture; and significant depth of aroma.
Color: Ruby red
Aromas: Currants, smoke, orange peel, geraniums and hints of eucalyptus, earthy, herbal
Flavors: Mediterranean spice, cola, wild strawberries and cherries
Body: Light
Alcohol: 13.5%

Winery Notes: The vineyards that produced this wine are in the Etna wine region of northern Sicily. In 2006, the Caciorgna family purchased a few hectares of grapes on the northern slope of the volcano. The Etna Rosso wines are known as Italy’s Pinot Noir.
