Winery Notes: The vineyard is on the Left Bank in Bordeaux where the predominate wine in the blend is Cabernet Sauvignon. The soil in the Left Bank is mainly a gravely topsoil with limestone underneath but soil composition varies greatly from plot to plot. The climate is a maritime climate heavily influenced by the Atlantic Ocean. The winters are moderate and warm, but the summers can vary significantly. Therefore, Bordeaux vintage is very important. The vineyard has belonged to the Bouteiller family for eight generations. The vineyard and estate is one of the oldest in Bordeaux. The property was purchased in 1793 by Jean Delbos, a wine merchant. The chateau was completed in 1878. Jean Delbos’ grand-daughter married Etienne Bouteiller in 1907.
